N’Djamena (12°07′ North, 15°03′ Est), the capital city of Chad is a port on the Chari River, near the confluence with the Logone River. The estimated population was close to 1 million inhabitants in 2009.

N’Djamena has a semi-arid climate with a short wet season (June-September, with the heaviest precipitation occurring in August) and a lengthy dry season. The average annual precipitations are around 750 mm. The city’s highest temperatures are usually recorded between March and June (32°C to 35°C) while average temperature are between 27°C to 31°C during the rest of the year.
