The S2E (Spatial Surveillance of Epidemics) Consortium includes CNES, and its subsidiary (MEDES, MEDIAS-France, CLS), INRA (Agronomic Research Institute), Veterinary School of Lyon (ENVL), and Pasteur Institute. It collaborates with scientific laboratories such CIRAD, CEA, IRD, Universities, and industrial partners such as EADS-MS2I, SOGREAH, SPOT Images, BRGM among others.
S2E respond to the need for the development an integrated approach in Public Health system for prediction and management of health risk.
The Consortium analyze the Health-Climat/Environment relationships with results contributing to the development of early warning systems (EWS). This is to predict and mitigate epdemics.
This integrated approach icludes three main activities:
- Deployment of in-situ Health Information Systems for data information, exchange and management in real time;
- Use of bio-mathematical models for epidemic dynamics;
- Remote sensing monitoring (climate and environment) linking epidemics with confounding factors such as vegetation, hydrology, forests extent, and population.
The diseases currently studied by the S2E are RFV(EmercaseProject), Dengue (Mate Project), vibrio diseases (Vibrio project ).
